Over the years we’ve had several requests for Daily Office apps. Clint, our subdeacon who handles IT and other Interesting Stuff, reports back as follows.
“I tried the blog site from my iPad, and was astounded to find that WordPress detected my iPad and “fed me” their custom interface for the iPad “cover flow”. I can appreciate how annoying the “cover” approach can be. I personally don’t care for it. However, there is a tiny link at the bottom they can press that says something like, “display standard webpage”. Touch that link, and voila! The blog in its format we all know and love. The iPad will also remember, and take you to that view the next time you go there. No more “cover”.
“I also tried going to the blog site on my iPhone. Of course, they sense a mobile device and give you a really neat interface to the blog that’s really quite usable in my opinion. (If) iPhones or Android phones are trying to use DailyOffice.org, their best bet is via the blog site (right here). WordPress already has the technology in place that as far as I’m concerned would supplant the need for developing a specific DailyOffice.org app for phones.
“Should someone desire, they can also switch back to the “cover” presentation with WordPress on the iPad.”
I trust this helps.

I just found your blog/site, and it’s been very helpful in creating a new discipline for myself. I really appreciate having a regular rhythm, as well as bringing in some traditional prayers. My church is non-denominational Christian, and although we appreciate and use common prayers occasionally, I miss saying the Apostles Creed and other prayers as part of my worship on a regular basis. This site is a sweet find. Thank you.
A shortcut widget is all I need for my Android to access the site. No app necessary. Thanks for bringing ancient to the modern world. God be praised!
Julia, this is one of the best comments we’ve received all year. Glad to have you with us on the Way.

We read the daily office on our iPad every morning and we love the cover flow format. Somehow we switched to the standard format and we can’t figure out how to get back to the cover flow. Where is that option in the site?
Thank you so much for your dedication, this site has been such an inspiration.

Ira, I’m no iPad expert, but I think what you want to toggle is at the bottom of the display – not on our site – as Subdeacon Clint explained above. Choose “cover flow.”
If you can’t find it, please get back to us. Clint can probably clarify this.
